Tensile sail at this this exceptional lakeside chalet unit combines alfresco dining with water sports activites. The client required a demountable high tensioned hypar tensile sail above a raised deck to provide a weather proof relaxation area .
Due to the varying stability of the lake shore the chalet & deck is installed above a reinforced & piled concrete base . To achieve our clients requirements we designed heavy duty bespoke steel post holders, with laser cut sections, that could be assembled within the confines of the raised deck. Multiple resin fixed stainless steel bolts into the concrete base and bolted connections to the uprated main joists of the decking ensured that the tension of the sail would be correctly absorbed by the structure .
4 inch diameter 316 marine grade mirror stainless steel posts with a 1.2 meter height differential complete the supporting structure to tension and form the hypar sail.
The hyperbolic tensile sail was designed, cut and manufactured by our UK sailmakers , with welded seams and guaranteed to 60 mph , Beaufort Storm Force 10. Fabric is Serge Ferrari (R) Precontraint (R) 502 in Champagne colour . Chrome plated aluminium bronze Swedish made Hasselfors open body rigging screws apply the tension to the sail creating the fantastic hypar 3D sail shape.
